Hunting Results

Hunting season is over and here is the result...

Jonathan was quite happy to get this 9-point buck opening morning of shotgun season. He had seen this buck during bow season, but it never came close enough. He was sure glad to have a shotgun in his hands when it came around that morning!

This was Ben's first year of hunting and he was very excited! He wasn't able to shoot any, but just the thrill of watching the deer was worth it. Jerky and canned venison are being much enjoyed by the rest of us. =)

Thanksgiving Pictures Of Guess Who? =)

If you guessed we took pictures of two precious little babies, you're RIGHT!!! Oh, we got a few other people in the pictures too, but....not many. =)

Boaz's ( 6 months) favorite way to suck his fingers. He is quite an intense little guy!

It is the cousins first introduction to each other. So cute!!

Emma's not exactly sure if she wants to sit next to him. You've got to grab the picture quick before they.....

FALL!!! Somebody help us!

"Wearing Uncle Jonathan's hat makes me feel small."
Uncle Tim teaching Boaz how to play Rook. "This one Uncle Tim?"
"No! Don't show everyone we've got the Red One!!! You're going to need some more training, buddy."

Now this to me looks like a proud grandpa, but I could be wrong.

"Daddy, what's the fuzzy stuff on Grandpa chin?!"

Here Emma (3 months) is smiling at her daddy making faces at her.

"I see you, but I'm not sure what to think."

Well, what do you know? We DID get pictures of everybody!

Merry Christmas from the whole Dart family!!!

Cute Pictures! =)

Here are some pictures of Boaz and Emma. Boaz was 3 months in the pictures and Emma was 10 days old. I hadn't realized how big Boaz was getting until I held little Emma! =)

Sweetly sleeping.

He's such a serious little old man...Boaz that is.

We sat down for lunch and had a wonderful time passing him around and listening to him coo and make his cute little frowns. It is so fun to imagine and put words to what he is thinking. =)

I started tickling and made him smile real big. He is starting to laugh now.

The place where all things must go...in the mouth! I think Penny, the doll is thoroughly enjoying it though. =) He has discovered his feet and enjoys taking his socks off.

Here is sweet Emma Louise!

Uncle Jonathan's first time holding her.

Emma, telling her Aunt Abby how much she loves her!

She loves to sleep with her hands by her face.

July

Hello, everyone! Summer-time has been rolling past so quickly! I can't believe that July will be over next week. Weeding and doing hay have kept us busy this month. Our last 8 acres of hay are down but will have to be chopped because of all this rain. What a wet year! Nice and cool too. =)

Some exciting things that have happened lately is we got to watch Lew Sterrett do a Sermon on the Mount presentation a couple weeks ago. Mr. Sterrett is a horse trainer from Miracle Mountain Ranch in PA that trains a horse while sharing parallels with the Christian walk with Christ and also in relationships with people. It was such a blessing to see him patiently work with an untrained horse who was moody, selfish, cantankerous, and so self-centered until it willingly, joyfully, and submissively walked with him and obeyed what he asked him to do. What a picture of Christ paitently working with us and drawing us to His heart until we are willing to let Him work in our lives and lead us where He wants us to go. Last night, in devotions we read a verse in John 15 where Jesus is talking with His disciples that exactly fit: "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." (KJV) In other words... "I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Live within my love. When you obey me you are living in my love, just as I obey my Father and live in His love. I have told you this so that you will be filled with My joy. Yes, your cup of joy will overflow!" How precious is His love!

This is Spark, a 12 year old palamino quarter horse that was very well trained! Mr. Sterrett rode him brideless as he worked with the young colt that was hardly handled until he accepted a saddle and rider all within 2 hours.
I love this picture of attentiveness! I hope I can get my horse to do this!

Harmony!

Last week, our dog, Randy went chasing after a rabbit and didn't watch where he was going. He ran into a cattle panel and made a 6 inch cut in his side. We had to take him to the vet's and he now has 10 stitches and a shaved side. Poor Randy was a little embarrased with being shaved, but has now recovered his dignity in spite of it and is back ruling his domain. =)

Yesterday, I went with the Brocketts to pick sweet cherries and it was such good picking that I brought home 50 lbs! So, for 3 hours Ben and I were really in the pits. But we didn't mind since it was raining out, we brought everything and continued pitting cherries while we watched a Lew Sterrett training dvd. We enjoyed being in the pits then! =) I tried to pay close attention to the dvd because it was sharing things that I could use with my horse, Tal. If anyone gets pits in their cherries when we eat them this winter, they'll just have to do dishes! =)

Today, we are getting things ready to start butchering our first batch of chickens for the summer tomorrow and Friday. We have close to 200 to do counting the Brocketts' birds. Jonathan was sharpening knives, Ben is fixing crates, and I made a chocolate cake for snacks along with cookies. Anyone want to come help?! =D

Farm work

I decided I'd better do an update since I have a little time because it's raining out. We have been so busy lately! This morning I raked about 5 acres of hay that we were hoping to get off the field before it rained. Mike decided to bale while he could so Ben and I needed to unload 2-3 wagons. Praise the Lord for neighbors like the Brocketts who were willing to come over and give us a hand at a moments notice! We were able to get the wagons done, but a part on the baler broke and then it began to rain. Good timing.

We have been very busy doing hay, picking strawberries, weeding our big gardens and other things so I haven't been able to take many pictures of our activities. Here are some from a few weeks ago.

Jonathan is disking up the field where we planted 550 lbs of seed potatoes and some rows of sweet corn. Ben is watering our new 1000 strawberry plants since then it was very dry.

Randy loves to ride on wagons with his nose up smelling the wind and his tail waving like a flag. =)

Our strawberry patch that now has no white but lots of red! Sweet, juicy red berries (no pictures for fear you might start feeling hungry).

Done!

Going home.

Well, we have been taking other pictures that are new... =)

We just can't help but take pictures!

Unfortunately, most of our family have been working through colds so only Grandma and Grandpa have been able to go see little Boaz. But as you can see, they enjoy it very much!

Beware, Boaz! We're coming soon! =)
